چکیده

The modelling strategy and simulation of flexible components of MEMS are addressed in this article. A newly developed Cosserat Rod Element (CRE) approach is employed to model the nonlinear dynamic equations of motion for micro resonators. Models constructed using this approach seek to capture the most significant characteristics of a microstructure in a few variables governed by a few ordinary differential equations of motion. A Three-dimensional nonlinear dynamic model with a six-degree-of-freedom for a resonator that comprises a resonator membrane supported by four flexible beams is generated. For illustration, the nonlinear dynamical responses of the resonator with/without external forces and/or torques have been presented through numerical simulations.

Generation of MEMS component models using Cosserat symbolic simulations

This paper describes how models of slender MEMS components can be generated using symbolic simulations based on Cosserat theory. Due to the generality of the method, models can be generated for a wide range of components under different stress conditions. The structure of the Cosserat-based models is presented, showing their concise, mathematically accurate representation. This potentially resu...

Modelling methodology of MEMS structures based on Cosserat theory

Modelling MEMS involves a variety of software tools that deal with the analysis of complex geometrical structures and the assessment of various interactions among different energy domains and components. Moreover, the MEMS market is growing very fast, but surprisingly, there is a paucity of modelling and simulation methodology for precise performance verification of MEMS products in the nonline...

A MEMS Capacitive Microphone Modelling for Integrated Circuits

In this paper, a model for MEMS capacitive microphone is presented for integrated circuits.  The microphone has a diaphragm thickness of 1 μm, 0.5 × 0.5 mm2 dimension, and an air gap of 1.0 μm. Using the analytical and simulation results, the important features of MEMS capacitive microphone such as pull-in voltage and sensitivity are obtained 3.8v and 6.916 mV/Pa, respectively while there is no...

Modelling the dynamics of a MEMS resonator: Simulations and experiments

Nonlinearities in MEMS silicon resonators are caused by different effects. Depending on the resonator layout, different nonlinearities may be ominant in the resonator response. Based on experimental results, a modelling approach is proposed to arrive at a nonlinear dynamic model that otentially captures the observed behaviour. Apart from the model, consisting of a mechanical and an electrical (...

Three Dimensional Nonlinear Dynamics of Slender Structures: Cosserat Rod Element Approach

In this paper, the modelling strategy of a Cosserat rod element (CRE) is addressed systematically for 3-dimensional dynamical analysis of slender structures. We employ the nonlinear kinematic relationships in the sense of Cosserat theory, and adopt the Bernoulli hypothesis. The Kirchoff constitutive relations are adopted to provide an adequate description of elastic properties in terms of a few...
